RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianTwo Lusaka men have been dragged to court for allegedly stealing fuel from a generator.Appearing at the Lusaka magistrates court was Elijah Sakala 22 of Matero and Christopher Nenewa 24 of Garden Compound.A witness Munyuwa Musenga 31 an assistant operations manager at Freshmark Limited, said Sakala was working for G3 , a company that used to provide security at Freshmark.He said Nenewa was a general worker and part of his duties was ensuring that the generator had fuel and always running.He said it was important that they always havd electricity or that the generator is always working because the company stores perishable foods and vegetables.He said when power cuts, automatically the generator starts running.He said on October 1, 2020, he received a call from Mr. Kalulu informing him that they had apprehended two people suspected to have stolen fuel from the generator.He said because he was off that day, he told Mr. Kalulu that he was going to company the following day.He said the following morning, he went to check the CCTV footage to determine what happened during the night.He said the footage showed a motor vehicle drive into the company.He said the vehicle parked near the generator and after some time, the vehicle moved towards the gate.He said a man was speaking to the guard at the gate and the guard allowed the car to leave.He said when everyone knocked off, he checked the video and made comparisons of what Nenewa was wearing when he knocked off and what the man in the video was wearing.He said the clothes that Nenewa wore that day matched with what the man was wearing in the video footage.He said the generator had been filled to the capacity of 600 litres and was supposed to run 18 to 24 hours.He said the cost of the fuel which was stolen was K3,200.He said he checked the generator and found a small pipe that might have been used to draw fuel from it.SAKALA: why did you not show me the video?MUSENGA: I don’t know.SAKALA: where you recording in a book when you refill the generator?MUSENGA: NoNENEWA: Do you know the use of that pipe?MUSENGA: yes I know.
