BOWMAN WANTS DNA TO BE DONE ON THE CHILDREN WHICH A LUSAKA WOMAN CLAIMS ARE HIS
By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSAKABUSHI Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo has sued a Lusaka woman who accused him of fathering her three children with a fourth one on the way, demanding a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) test to prove the truth.Mr Lusambo in his claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, wants Ms Mercy Matongo Cowham to pay him damages for libel as well as exemplary damages. He wants Ms Cowham to retract and render an apology for the false accusation made against him that he is the father of the children and also an order for a DNA test to be conducted on the said children. The former Lusaka Province minister stated that on September 28, 2021, Ms Cowham published through a video footage circulated on Facebook by Prime TV and other online media houses, that he had been in an adulterous relationship with Ms Cowham for eight years. He stated that the defendant further said that he fathered three children with her and she was expecting another one of his children. She is said to have alleged that the lawmaker had abandoned the children.“That the words or sentiments expressed in the said video in their ordinary meaning, mean and were understood to mean that the plaintiff is an adulterer, who has committed adultery for the last eight years, further that the plaintiff has engaged in sexual activity with the defendant on several occasions resulting in him fathering four children whom he has abandoned thus he is irresponsible,” he stated. He said that the sentiments by Ms Cowham damaged his reputation especially that he is a public figure.“The said sentiments were maliciously published by the defendant with her full knowledge that they are unfounded, false and injurious to the plaintiffs’ reputation,” Mr Lusambo stated.
